GEODYN operations description, volume 3
The operating and set-up procedures for the multi-satellite, multi-arc GEODYN- Orbit Determination program are described. All system output is analyzed. The GEODYN Program is the nucleus of the entire GEODYN system. It is a definitive orbit and geodetic parameter estimation program capable of simultaneously processing observations from multiple arcs of multiple satellites. GEODYN has two modes of operation: (1) the data reduction mode and (2) the orbit generation mode
Electromagnetic properties of baryons
We discuss the chiral behavior of nucleon and Delta(1232) electromagnetic
properties within the framework of a SU(2) covariant baryon chiral perturbation
theory. Our one-loop calculation is complete to the order p^3 and p^4/Delta
with Delta as the Delta(1232)-nucleon energy gap. We show that the magnetic
moment of a resonance can be defined through the linear energy shift only when
an additional relation between the involved masses and the applied magnetic
field strength is fulfilled. Singularities and cusps in the pion mass
dependence of the Delta(1232) electromagnetic moments reflect a
non-fulfillment. We show results for the pion mass dependence of the nucleon
iso-vector electromagnetic quantities and present results for finite volume
effects on the iso-vector anomalous magnetic moment.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, prepared for Proceedings of the International

A complete characterisation of the heralded noiseless amplification of photons
Heralded noiseless amplifcation of photons has recently been shown to provide
a means to overcome losses in complex quantum communication tasks. In
particular, to overcome transmission losses that could allow for the violation
of a Bell inequality free from the detection loophole, for Device Independent
Quantum Key Distribution (DI-QKD). Several implementations of a heralded photon
amplifier have been proposed and the first proof of principle experiments
realised. Here we present the first full characterisation of such a device to
test its functional limits and potential for DI-QKD. This device is tested at
telecom wavelengths and is shown to be capable of overcoming losses
corresponding to a transmission through of single mode telecom
fibre. We demonstrate heralded photon amplifier with a gain and a
heralding probability , required by DI-QKD protocols that use the
Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality. The heralded photon amplifier
clearly represents a key technology for the realisation of DI-QKD in the real
world and over typical network distances.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
Many-spinon states and the secret significance of Young tableaux
We establish a one-to-one correspondence between the Young tableaux
classifying the total spin representations of N spins and the exact eigenstates
of the the Haldane-Shastry model for a chain with N sites classified by the
total spins and the fractionally spaced single-particle momenta of the spinons.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Precise MS-bar light-quark masses from lattice QCD in the RI/SMOM scheme
We compute the conversion factors needed to obtain the MS-bar and RGI up,
down, and strange-quark masses at next-to-next-to-leading order from the
corresponding parameters renormalized in the recently proposed RI/SMOM and
RI/SMOM_gamma_mu renormalization schemes. This is important for obtaining the
MS-bar masses with the best possible precision from numerical lattice-QCD
simulations, because the customary RI(')/MOM scheme is afflicted with large
irreducible uncertainties both on the lattice and in perturbation theory. We
find that the smallness of the known one-loop matching coefficients is
accompanied by even smaller two-loop contributions. From a study of residual
scale dependences, we estimate the resulting perturbative uncertainty on the
light-quark masses to be about 2% in the RI/SMOM scheme and about 3% in the
RI/SMOM_gamma_mu scheme. Our conversion factors are given in fully analytic
form, for general covariant gauge and renormalization point. We provide
expressions for the associated anomalous dimensions.Comment: Added results for the RI/SMOM_gamma_mu scheme and anomalous
dimensions; typos fixed (results unchanged); added reference
